The handguards to be used on a DCM float tube must be modified in such a way that they can't go back on a regular upper. The rifle won't be able to be used as a service rifle upper because of the non-GI appearance. See photos 4,5, & 6 in this slide show. FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.
