Well, Reservoir Dog's link takes care of it, but if you're sending a handgun, a few salient points:

#1:  It can ONLY be shipped through a Customer Center (i.e. hub location).  UPS drop boxes, the UPS Store, etc, are no good.
#2:  It must be shipped Next Day Air (Next Day Air Saver, which is a few bucks cheaper, is perfectly acceptable too).
#3:  It must be shipped to a FFL holder.
#4:  I don't know if they're still big on this, but at one time UPS would only accept a handgun from a non-FFL holder if you were sending it out for "repair".  If the counter guy should ask you if you're sending it out for repair, just say yes.  (Sometimes I was asked if it was going out for repair and sometimes I wasn't.)
#5:  Don't send ammunition in the same package.

I'm sure that some smartass will come around saying "Oh, that's bull, just list the contents as 'machined parts' or some such and send it Ground through a UPS Store.  That'll save you a ton of money and time."  Personally, I wouldn't ever do that.  I'll jump through their hoops because I guar-an-tee that if my package gets lost/stolen/mangled and they find out that I tried to slime a gun through their system they'll tell me to get lost if I try to make a claim.
