Im looking to buy one and I need suggestions on what to look for.  I'm looking to keep  my rifle comfortable yet compact.

Quick release latches ?
storage?  Is it really needed for the week end plinker?

+1, none other need apply.  It may seem expensive, but it's really not that much more expensive than other QD VFGs and it has the three caps, and its the best one out there. Oh yeah, and its made in TX.

The FUG is hands down the best VFG made.  I have tried every VFG at one time or another.  If you just want a cheap VFG get a KAC.  If you want the best VFG get a FUG.

I'd advise "spend $20 and see if you LIKE a VFG first."  Once you realize that you do, THEN go Larue.  Having tried it, you'll be all the more ready to plunk down the not-outrageous cost of what seems to be a real winner of a grip.

Among other purposes for my "spare pennies and unused lunch money" collection, I'm planning a Larue VFG to go on my (as yet undecided brand) rail system.

The FUG is nice, but for the money you can not beat a cut down KAC. I've got three they do exactly what I need them to do, are inexpensive, and look good.

I concur, The FUG is good to go. But I also like the Tango Down QD stubby. I run both. I like the features on both. I really like on the TD that it has a catch to release it from the  rail.  Either way you can not go wrong.

I have to agree with everyone who recommented the FUG.  I just recieved mine and im truely impressed. I was a little unsure it it was worth the money without being able to handle it before purchase but now that I have it installed, I'll be ordering another for my next build. Best build quality I've found and its rock solid. Plus Larue's outstanding customer service makes it a great dael reguardless of the price.

A lot of people love or hate VFGs, theres not much middle ground. Buying a cheap one first is a good idea. But you can also sell the FUG on the EE if you dont like it.
I have a tango down VFG, some peoplecomplain about the tight fit, but it's not a big deal. But the quick detach feature is really nice when it's new. so you can move
it around while you figure out where you want it exactly.
