| Hey guys I’m new to this forum and semi new to guns but I’m not a complete idiot about them. Anyways I just turned 18 a couple days ago and I was pretty excited because I can now buy long guns. Well with all this hype going around about an assault rifle ban and everyone selling out of them I figured I would buy one while I could, so I did. I bought a Dpms panther lite 16 chambered in the .223/5.56 I paid 800 bucks for it and as a matter of fact I still have it in lay away and can’t wait to get it out. I did a lot of research on assault rifles and dpms seemed to be the best for me and my budget. Anyways I was just wondering what you guys think about this rifle and your guys pro’s and con’s on it? |

Looks like im the jackass that has to say it... I prefer not to call them assault rifles (and many others feel this way) because it makes it sound scary and is not entirely correct. Calling any semi auto rifle an assault rifle is a left wing scare tactic I think people who own guns try not to adopt. Buy a book titled "Boston's Gun Bible," its not all true (hes a hardliner about some things very smart people dont agree with) but among other things he gives you a corrected glossary of gun terms for things that the left label, for example... high capacity mags are full capacity saturday night special is a RACIST TERM etc. You picked a good rifle it sounds like. Remember to keep it lightweight. EDIT.. im a jackass and misread, but i dont wanna delete the above because it is a good book and a good lesson. pardon me for hammering you for something you never did. |

I recently purchased a Remington R25 in 308 and this rifle is actually made by DPMS. While Colt made be the standard in quality, I am amazed at the quality and the accuracy. You should have no problems and be quite happy with your purchase.
Yeah, turning 18 and able to buy long guns and ammo was more to me than getting my drivers license. |
