I have a Superior Arms lower w/ a RRA two stage match trigger. I just got a delivery today from La Rue Tactical, 10 new Pmags, window less. Tried to insert said Pmag. Wouldn't go without a fight. Heck, wouldn't drop free. I am lucky, have 4 RRA lowers laying around Went to local gun range, gonna swap guts, M-4 back in action Got a sweet Beverage Entry Tool from La Rue Tactical, and learned, Iowa is not always better, Superior Arms throws out some questionable recievers, (Needed a little bit more tool work), and I still have much to learn. |
| I had one that the side of the magwell was too thin. If you put your thumb inside the magwell and a finger on the outside you could actually feel your finger against the thumb. It would flex very easily. I thought I could crack it with my bare hands. I sent it back and got replacement. Its magwell is bowed out on the serial number side. It changes the dimensions front to rear and limits the mags I can use. If yours is bowed out on one side that would probably make the magwell too tight. |
| In my case, the mag well bowed out to the front of the receiver, and there was too much aluminum in the back of the reciever. The roll stamping was horrible too. Anyway, it is sold to my bro, who will do something with it. It didn't have a problem with mil-spec magazines. Just ugly really when you compared it to other lowers, such as RRA of Bushmaster. |

I have one. PMags do not fit, but USGI fit fine. I've also tried to contact them via email, and have received no response what-so-ever. and you probably wont get a response either. I tried to email them a couple times over the past month with no luck. I bought a Superior lower about a month ago and some of my USGI mags wont drop free< I even have one 30rd that will not even go into the magwell and a 20rd that I literally have to pull on really hard to get it out of the magwell. I got tired of waiting for a returned email so I called and they told me to send it back to them with one of my mags and they will look at it. I'm really hoping they will just send out a new one with a in spec magwell. cbsaf: how long did it take them to replace your lower? did it have the same serial number or a new one? and if it had a different serial number did you have to have it transfered again? thanks |

Receiver manufacturers don't produce lowers with the intent of them accepting Pmags or other aftermarket type mags. That is a MagPul issue. Some manufactures do. It's just a matter of machining the lower receiver to the original military blueprints. The problem with this is that it adds cost to the manufacturing process and, according to the vast majority of manufactures, doesn't add a lot of benefits to the consumer. There is a lot more to this problem than just having mags drop free. With many lowers you see other issues such as tolerance stacking (which can cause major issues w/things like trigger pin alignment) and a lack of proper buffer tube alignment (which can cause all sort of "questionable" feeding issues). Building a high quality lower receiver is something that the vast majority of manufactures are not willing to spend the time and money to do. Obviously some are worse than others. The PMAG problem is a consistent issue with Superior Arms lowers in my experience. |
