My 16" carbine has a standard carbine buffer. Will an H buffer make it that much more reliable?
I have heard it can also prolong the life of the bolt, however a new bolt is only $45.00.

Your thought please.

Conventional wisdom is that you should run the heaviest buffer that you can that will allow your AR to reliably cycle with the weakest ammo that you use.  A Heavy buffer is about $30 if memory serves.  As you pointed out, a new bolt is maybe $45.

If your AR works as is, I wouldn't bother.  If you're having problems with dropped extractions, a heavy buffer may solve your problem.

No, I am not having problems. I have heard an H buffer is the way to go, and I wanted to know if
the upgrade is really worth it.
