About how many uses can you get from a stripper before it goes bad? I expect that the problem would be the little tabs breaking off from repeated bending, but maybe something else goes sooner.
Do some of you not bend the tabs to hold in the rounds, or continue to use the stripper after they break off? There seems to be enough friction to hold the cartridges in place without the tabs, for range use. Rough handling might be a different story. Your experiences? Thanks. |

Stripper clips are designed to be used once and discarded. That being said, with care I suspect you can reuse several times. For long term storage, I'd use once-used stripper clips only. FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda. Regards, Ed Mann [email protected] Bobby Bowden is doing a fine job - just leave him alone.

If the tab breaks it goes in the Range Use Only box. If the tabs are OK I then use them with the ammo I keep in my SHTF storage. If they won't hold the round securely they go in the $h!t Can. Fairly good advice here, except I recycle the parts-the gold part is brass and the rest is steel. I've got clips that have had dozens of uses and the brass spring insert is still nice and strong. |
| I have used clips at least 10+ times for the range. I always make sure to bend the tab by hand, not jamming them in the spoon and breaking off the tab. If I get a broken tab I just swap out the parts . Myself, I test fit the clips one time before they are storage ready. I have had to many that look great but strip off like crap |

Do you mean that the tabs can be re-bent that many times, or just that the big part of the brass spring still holds pressure against the rims? |

If you're not too aggressive in re-folding the tabs you can bend them several times before they fatigue and fail, but the big part of the spring will still hold the rounds well enough for the range without the tabs. |

Just had a thought- Has anyone had one of the tabs break off and fall into the magazine while loading from the stripper? It seems like that could jam between the inside of the mag and the follower or a cartridge. i have. there is a mag or 2 in my box that have the little brass tabs in the bottom. never had a stoppage because of one. maybe i have just been lucky. |

I don't think so. I think that the tabs are so small and so thin that they can't do anything to bugger up a magazine. |
