Hey guys, long time luirker and first time poster. I have been a member on calguns.net under the same user name.

I am going to post my problem here as well

I just finished a ar 15 pistol build. I used a Mega Pistol Lower, RRA LPK, for the upper I went with the PK Firearms sabre defense 10.5" upper with the RRA bolt carrier set up.

I allemebled the gun and all seemed well. Everything moved as it should and seemed fine.

I loaded a .223 dummy round in a magazine. put the mag in and pressed the bolt cath/release button and it slammed forward as it should. it loaded the dummy round. now when I went to pull the charging handle to the rear to eject the dummy round the charging handle was stuck. and I mean stuck. it had maybe 1cm of play to the rear and it stopped.

Nothing I did could gt it out. I had to seperate the upper and lower and I gently pry backon the bolt carrier and it came lose and I removed the dummy round.

I cleaned and lubed al the bolt parts, put everything back together and it seemed fine.

Now people were warning me about the dummy rounds and yada yada yada. So I took it to the range at work. I put a live round in a magazine, loaded it and the same thing!!!! The dang thing was stuck again. What could it be that would cause the bolt to get stuck when there is a live or dummy round in it?

Any input could help.

Sorry about the length

Maybe out of spec chamber.

Hm, can you manually operate it without a round in it?  Do the dummy and live round surface show any binding?  Do you have another barrel you can try?

any chance of pieces from the dummy round in the chamber

Are your live rounds factory or reloads

does the bolt go fully forward with the live round

with the bolt and carrier removed, can you manually put a round in the chamber.

do you have a 223 chamber or a 5.56 chamber and what caliber ammo are you loading

when you say it stuck on a live round, do you mean you tried to extract the unfired cartridge and it wouldn't budge. OR do you mean it wouldn't extract a fired round.

next time you get stuck try this point the barrel away from you grab your charging handle and pull at the same time  smack the butt of the gun on the ground. it works like a charm instead of prying on it

It's a pistol and has no butt, he'd be smacking the receiver extension to a hard surface

I would suspect an out of spec chamber as well.  Just in case their is something in the chamber (pieces of the dumm round or whatever) clean the heck out of it!  After that I don't know what to tell you except get a new barrel.

If the buffer tube has a lock plate check to make sure it does not  extend above the rear of the lower enough for the charging handle to catch on it.

With the barrel pointed down, drop a round in the chamber. It should seat.

Good luck.
