Your only allowed one AR and one caliber. Which one would it be. I dont want to turn this into a .308 vs .223 debate. I only ask because Im thinking about selling my two ( one is 5.56 and the other is .308) and just going with one super rifle haha but have to decide on a dream AR and the caliber .

Definitely would be a build.

LWRC IAR upper in 6.8x43mm SPC
KAC lower
KAC match trigger
S&B Short Dot 2 in an SPR-E mount
KAC rail panels
BoBro shorty VFG
Surefire M951
LMT SOPMOD with heavy Buffer and spring

...and a shitload of Barrett 30 rd mags.

I have been debating going 6.8 as well just as a nice compromise. I would hate to see it dissappear down the road though. I dont know much about the round to be honest, is it more expensive then the .308?

I'd keep the AR in 5.56, there are lots of good platforms in 308 if you needed a good 308. If I could only have one AR it'd be an A1 in 5.56.

Keep what you got.

I like 6.8mm SPC, but couldn't afford ammo to train with.

I sold all mine.

Stick with two guns. When The Messiah takes us out of Iraq, 5,56mm and 7,62mm will become affordable again.

Id have to agree! Id stick with what you have. The 5.56 is cheap compared to pretty much anything else. There are lots of manufactures loading this stuff and there will soon be a surplus (I hope) of 5.56 when we get pulled from the sandbox.
The 5.56 is a great round. There are better but it is still a great round.
The .308 is a long distance killer. That round too should be in large supply once we are out of the SB.
I would also consider a gas piston setup for the 5.56. I know some will dissagree but it really is a rock solid setup.
I had over 1000 rounds each through my Bushamster and Adams Arms systems.
In my test I have not noticed any adverse affect on accuracy in either system.

IMHO a gun is only as good as the availability of ammo for it..In a SHTF situation 5.56/.223 is/will be more accessible than most others IMO...So if only 1 gun it would be 5.56..Just my .02

HAHA the messiah. Ya thats a good point though. I havent been shooting that long to really know where prices were at before. I know they weren't 50 cents a round though. Ya maybe  should just stay with both.

I dunno Its like I love the 5.56 it just seems like it gets boring IMO. Perhaps its because NY has absolutley no interesting ranges or anything greater then 200yards. But then the .308 ammo is even more expensive so it discourages me from shooting it more often. Thats why I was thinking of just putting all my energy into one. Guess I could make a decision if I know what the future held in terms of Obama and ammo/guns.

When I first started shooting AR15s it was about 9 CENTS per round.

You should really stick with what you have. Resist the temptation to switch to a single, unorthodox cartridge.

It would be very frustrating and in the long run you'd wish you hadn't.

With that said, you should consider just getting an alternate cartridge upper, just for fun.

Right now 5,45 x 39mm IS DIRT-FREAKING-CHEAP. About half what 5,56mm is...

You might start there.
