I'm getting ready to build a varmit rig, and I am thinking about going with one of these elevated receivers.  I have never shot an AR that had one of these.  Any issues i should know about?

With regular height rings, will they sit the scope up too high for a regular A2 buttstock?

My thoughts (I said thoughts, not expert advise) on the elevated optics platform are this.  I have never had a problem using a standard flat top and a LaRue SPR Mount ro SPR-E mount for the scope.  They mount the scope solid and at the right hight for me.

The down fall I see with the EOP is that if you decide down the road to change to a carbine with a red dot or somethng else, you have to buy a new receiver.

I know that doesn't answer your question but just something to think about.

I would'nt get the eye relief I needed with a EOP. With an E2 stock I usually have the scope ocular lense about 1in.+ in front of the charging handle depending on it's eye relief.

Yeah, just don't do it. In order to get proper head position you're going to need a rail (or SPR/E) that goes a lot further forward. You can use a Larue mount or an extended elevated rail and short or med rings. If you get that receiver you'll be pretty much hosed every way you turn.

Thanks for the input guys!  Sounds like I would be better off to just go with the regular flat-top receiver.
