Seems the Harris bipod is a popular one, but I don't like the external spring setup.

Is there another bipod good for a 24" varminter with free floating tube (it has the stud under it)?   I want a compact bipod, something like the harris 6-9" ones.

I use the bobro, but it attaches via rail. I really dig it, it's solid as hell!

Check out the GG+G on the blackweapons armory website. I have one at home waiting for my AR to ship, great quality but spendy. I didnt like the springs either. p.s. the CAA bipods are on indefinate backorder( I'm not sure they even make them)

Add a rail, you wont be sorry.

Here is an option with no external springs; Atlas Bipod

+1 on the Tango Down unit.

It folds back nicely so you can grasp the rifle around it.,
but I wish someone made one that folded in like the original FAL bipod.

I got myself a UTG swivel bipod for $30.  Absolutely love it and very simple.
