I wanted to thank y'all, for all your help! Without it, I don't know if I would have had the confidence to try and assemble my own AR and I sure wouldn't have ended up with the rifle I've got!

I've been building my first AR for the past few months- selecting parts and components largely from the information I got here.  I cheated a little by buying a complete LaRue upper, instead of building it; but the fact that I chose LaRue had a lot to do with all the talk here about how great there stuff is. Today I got my first chance to get out to a range and take my first shots with the new gun (my FIRST AR!) and it worked like a charm- a little to my surprise.  I think I was worrying it would blow up in my hands because it wasn't put together by a factory or gunsmith. Shooting one is a new experience and I wasn't shooting as good as I can, but I was still managing a 1" group (last 10 rounds) after getting it sighted in.  I was pretty pleased with myself! If my addiction to the 'black gun' wasn't solidifies already, it's sure full-blown now! I can't wait to get a better scope (I'm shooting a $36 Ebay Bushnell right now) and a Eotech, and some real range time under my belt, to see what I'm capable of with it!

I know there are a lot of y'all with a lot better rifles and who're capable of a lot better shooting than I ever will, but I'm pretty pleased with what I've got and with how much I'm enjoying shooting and customizing mine. I just wanted y'all to know how much I appreciate all the help, advice, patience and encouragement I've gotten from the ARF community- Thank Y'all SO MUCH!

Here's what I've got so far:

  • LaRue 18" Stealth Upper with 13.2" LaRue Handguard

  • PWS DNTC Compensator

  • $36 Ebay special Bushnell - just until I can afford a Mark4 or NightForce

  • Troy BUIS w/ Troy built Diamondhead rear BUIS

  • Tactical Innovations Lower w/ DPMS parts (minus trigger) - Waiting on my LaRue lower still!

  • Timney 3lb. single-stage trigger

  • Magpul CTR stock and MIAD grip

  • Shooting Black Hills 75gr. Moly Match ammo
