My dad and I was thinking about getting a ~ $2000 16" AR-15. We were recommended to get a Wilson combat AR. The faqs/ stickies about buying ARs don't mention the Wilson combat brand, Wilson Combat is not even on the AR-15 industry forum and my search for Wilson came up with a grand total of 1 topics. With all this overwhelming evidence, I'm pretty sure we should go with something else but just wanted to get the vet's opinions.

I know that they make great 1911's and they are the only mags I use for my 1911's.  I don't have any experience with their AR's though.  Hopefully some can offer their advice.

I would pass on their tactical carbines. You will get more desirable features in something like an LMT, Colt or something else. M4 feedramps, better barrel steel, chrome lining, 1/7 twist, tested bolt, barrels and carriers, etc. All for less money. Take the money you save and buy a rail, you'll still come in less and have a better "tactical carbine".

+1. Wilson makes a good gun but overpriced.

I've handled one & can't say I was overly impressed with it vs. other ARs with the same features. I'm sure they work just fine like most other brands but IMO they are grossly over priced for what you get. I concur that they make excellent pistols but I would pass on their AR.

Never shot one, but I handeled one in one of the local shops here. The fit & finish was Typical, but the fire control group was insane! The trigger was short & broke "like a glass rod" clean & crisp with no effort. I don't know if this particular rifle had an aftermarket trigger or not, but when I asked the shop owner why the Wilson was $700+ more than the bushy he recommended I squeeze the trigger & see for myself.

Your paying a lot for the Wilson Combat name. IMHO go with LM&T S&W Stag or many other quality brands, and SAVE YOUR MONEY for Ammo.

I agree. I bought 2 of their rifles during the ban and they were nothing to write home about. Way overpriced for what you're getting.

What ban are you talking about?? Wilson introduced their AR's at the SHOT  Show in 2000????

To advise the OP, look at Sabre Defence. Less money and a hell of a rifle..

As mentioned over priced considering the only real difference is the Armor Tuff finish which is nice, they use over basic parkerizing. They are nice and I believe use standard RRA 2 stage triggers and their own SS barrels.

The Wilson Combat is an excelent rifle and everyone that I know that owns one talks about how great it is.  Yes, the MSRP is overpriced for what you get compaired to others out there.  It does come with a JP trigger that makes the rifle.

Most WC AR's I've seen sell before the obama scare were about $400-500 less than the advertised MSRP...and that makes it a nice rifle.
