| Ok we all know whats going on with the AR back orders. My question is, what is going to happen with these people who have 20-25 week lead times to get their AR parts. If when Obama takes office there is some sort of assualt weapons ban before people get their parts. Are those people granfathered because they have already made their purchase? |
| For your best chances of getting grandfathered buy the lower receivers now and the uppers / kits later. There's a shorter backlog of lower receivers and some places have them in stock. Good luck finding an upper or kit in stock. Besides, it's the lower that's the actual firearm. You could buy 10 lowers now and build them at your leasure without regard to any ban. So far there is no historic president for banning non-imported gun "parts," even during the last AWB. |
| so it sounds like what takque and 87gn are saying is that some of these people that are on 25 week lead times, could possibly be Sh*t out of luck? I know this all hypothetical, but I am just curious. I already have a lower, I need an upper! My problem is the longer I wait the better my chances are of not being able to ever have one and I am concerned if I put an order in, that it could hypotheticaly not get fullfilled. |

Once it's in your safe, it's up to you to guarantee that no one takes it.
If you have a lower, the likelihood is you will be okay; tough to ban unserialized mechanical parts. However, no one knows for certain. My wife is well connected in Dem circles, and thinks gun control is low on their list; they know once they start that, everything else on their agenda will get tougher. they will want to destroy the economy first; then federally fund partial birth abortion; then go for guns after then next congressional election. or 2013. |
