I am wanting to add optics to my 16" AR. I have been looking at eotech and aimpoint and have kinda swayed toward the aimpoint ml3 with a cantelever mount. Some day will be adding a 3x magnifier. Also am not sure about dot size 2moa or 4moa? Can anyone give me some insight on either optic and dot size? Will be engaging targets out to maybe 200 yards.

The ML3 is a great optic. As far as dot size, a 2MOA will cover 2" of a target at 100 yards, and a 4MOA will cover 4" at 100 yards. I prefer the 4MOA personally.

ML3 is a great sight. I prefer the 2MOA version. The 2MOA dot can be 'overcranked' to look bigger, the 4MOA dot will never look smaller. If you're using a magnifier and shooting at range: 400 yards with 2MOA covers a 8" circle (50sq in) while the 4MOA dot covers a 16" circle (201sq in). BSW

If you aren't expecting your optic to go through hell on a regular basis I would look at the CompC3.  Its the same as the M3 but not as rugged.  It can't be submerged as far and thats the only difference I have been able to find out.  Also, check out ebay, they are offering 30% off optics and stuff with buy it now.

I really like my Aimpoint Micro T1 with larue mount.  The dot is right around 4 MOA, the whole package is tiny and lightweight.  It also does not obstruct so much of my vision as a standard Aimpoint.  The dot size is fine for me, I can reliably hit COM offhand at 230 yards quickly, and if I take some more time hit soda bottles at the same range.

That said, I'm better with irons at longer ranges.  But for 200 yards and in the T1 is my choice.
