I picked up six 30rd mags today at a gun show for $45. They are in somewhat rough cosmetic shape (mostly cosmetic scrapes and scuffs, but you can tell they have had some rounds through them where the bullet hits the mag). Three of them fit perfectly and drop free, and three of them where TIGHT. I squeezed them down to spec, so the three tight mags now drop free. How long do you think my "fix" will last? For the most part, all my 30rd mags will sit loaded, ready to be used if the SHTF.

They should be fine..use em till they start double feeding. It cant be helped with aluminum mags eventually through use they buldge...one reason why I use steel 30 rounders...rguns used to have the steel singapore mags 10 for $80..I use these with magpul followers..

.very reliable and steel is only 4 ounces heavier loaded than aluminum and 1 ounce havier than Pmags loaded...steel rules and before you hear the steel opening up alumunum magwells all I can say is my steel parts on my AR havent effected the aluminum parts negatively and as far as rust...if steel parts on your rifle aerent rusting because you maintain the rifle then the mags should be fine too...like my M14 mags and rifle.
