I have a question. What does the forward assist do? I have asked several people and they do not know .
|
| I was told that it was not designed to push in a round that does not feed. That means your gun or ammo has a problem and it would be best to fix the problem rather than making it into a potentially dangerous pressure issue. This may not apply if your are trying to save your life but you may only have one round and it might get you!! I was taught that the forward assist was designed so that in VietNam after you crossed a river you could pull back on the bolt a bit and let water out of the bore and then QUIETLY push the round back into the chamber. Any confirmations on that!! 308 |
