Wanting to build my first AR. Dont have much to spend, dont need all the best and flashy components. What will it cost and if anyone can break it down so i can get everything sorted out.
Thanks.

Right now you will spend real money.  You best bet is to get a upper from the EE, that is what I did, I bought a Colt SOCOM upper, and snap it to a lower of choice, Bushmaster, with LMT LPK and stock. I just need one of those SDI hiders.

I had thought  about  just getting my lower right now. So i would have the important part.

Is this your first build or first rifle? If its your only AR15, I would recomend buying one from a dealer. The cost of building one from stripped lower & LPK with an assembled factory upper w/BCG. The cost or if there is any savings is minimal at best. One way to save money is to buy all the parts and accessories from one source, vs buying from various vendors with multiple shipping charges.

Build it yourself
1. Stripped lower
2. LPK
3. Stock and components
4. Upper receiver
5. BUIS or optic
6. Accessories
+ tools to assemble and time to put together.
7. Mags and Ammo

Store Bought
1. Walk into gunstore, I'll take that one there.
2 Mags & Ammo
3 Accessories

YMMV to all of the above.

Thanks for the help. I would like to do the work though, it seems to be a lot more rewarding than just going to the store. Ive done many bolt rifles and want to get into AR's.

I recommended a factory built rifle because, building your first AR always has a few bugs to work out, most common mistakes are trigger and hammer springs installed incorrectly. Other small issues that are overlooked. Just common first time mistakes.

There really is no saving money, BIY usually cost the same if not more than buying a factory built rifle.

Also a BIY or kits usually dont have a warranty. So if this is a concern, you may want to contact vendors to see if they will waranty an upper if it was assembled on a BIY lower.
Food for thought.

There is no right or wrong way, just less headaches
