Can anyone decipher a Bushy SN here?  Does it tell me when this was produced?

It is a M4A3 Patrolman's Carbine SN L494673.

Model Number is XM15-E2S.

I have a chance to purchase this for $859, looks like it has not been fired.  I would like to know how old or when this was produced before making decision.

fairly recent?

Also, I do not know if it is the M4A3 standard or "Patrolmans".  I was hoping the SN would clarify.

Thanks for the reply.....

Every BM lower has XM15-E2S stamped in it so it's not the model number. The model number is not stamped on the rifle.

M4A3 Standard model# BCWA3F 14M4IZ

M4A3 Patrolmans model# BCWA3F 16M4

Fairly recent meaning probably within the past 12 months. I have one that is about 2 1/2-3years old and it's ser# is L288xxx.
I really don't think there is any difference in the two models you cited. If there is, you can change out or add ANYTHING that you want different, easily.
They're asking around $1250 for Bushy Patrolman's carbines on Gunbroker.com right now,

OK. sweet.

The only difference I can tell betwen the 2 is barrel length.   It looks like the standard is 14.5", 16' including the permantly attachd flash suppressor.

The Patroleman's looks to be 16" not including flash suppresor.

Standard MSRP is 1300, Patrolmans is $1270

Either way under 900 looks like a steal at this point....

Be back......need to go pick that up today.

You are correct the Patrolman is simply a full 16 in with removable flash hider added on.  Does sound like a very fair deal.

I JUST bought a Patrolman's Carbine (Thursday) and it has a BFI prefix. I read somewhere that this is a post-Cerebrus gun.

I paid $899 NIB.

Well, picked this up yesterday.  Not the Patrolman's, but tge Standard M4 with 14.5" barrel.

Out the door with tax $915.   Not to bad considering the B.O. factor.
