I got this new upper and it has a a2 flash hider on it.  I dont really care for a flash hider and was wondering if there were some thread protectors out there that would cover the barrel threads and make it near seemless?

If any one knows I sure would appreciate the help.

On a side note what the heck is the use of a flash hider anyway?  I understand compensators and things of that nature, but dont get the flash hider?

ADCO used to sell thread protectors IIRC

ETA:
if you dont like the FH and the way it works I guess you're looking for accuracy then you should consider a quality Muzzle Brake

it directs the flash out of the line of the shooters sight.

not sure about specific for ar15's but any thread protector used for threaded bbls and 22/223 suppressors would work fine.

JMHO but i'd leave it in place. i prefer them.

Well looking at dictionary.com we have the following:

flash
–noun 1. a brief, sudden burst of bright light: a flash of lightning.

hide
–verb (used with object) 1. to conceal from sight; prevent from being seen or discovered: Where did she hide her jewels?

Therefore a flash hider hides the muzzle flash of the weapon being fired, hence the name flash hider.

It reduces the visible flash when firing at night. Take the rifle out some night and fire off a couple rounds, then remove the flash hider and fire some more. Tell me if you notice a difference.

I guess my point is what the hell do I need a flash suppressor for?  Im not military or LEO

I know it dampens the flash but not so much you cant see it?

Look I dont need one and I just want to know if people make a thread protector to cover the threads.  I cant seem to find one.

Oh does anyone care to give me the definition of a jack ass.  Oh never mind see half of the people that posted on this thread

I like the vortex flash hider.  Some flash hiders help direct the gasses like the A2 with the solid bottom.  It helps when firing from a prone position because it doesn't kick up dirt/sand/etc.

I know it dampens the flash but not so much you cant see it? Enough to keep you from losing your night vision.
