a few buddies and i are thinkin about buyin our first assault rifles. i have been looking at the bushmaster carbon 15 model 4. i like that it has a raised flat top already. i was looking at a similar model today and noticed the material it is made of. it is not steel but a carbon composite. it almost seems like plastic. my question is does this stuff hold up well. or is it better to just buy the version that is all steel?

thanks

Yes, it holds up well, but many don't like it anyway for some reason.  I don't like it simply because it feels cheap, and I don't want my $1k rifle feeling like a piece of plastic.  It's very very light, though...that can be a plus.

I have 2 bushmasters and I previously owned a C15 for about a week. It felt like a toy and that it should have had the little orange tip on the end to mark it as such. I took it back and traded it towards a real AR15
