I was told when I was spec'ing out my ar that there was found to be some play with 2pc forearms and that is one of the reasons they typically spec out free float forearms. The other reasons are lightweight versions and barrel harmonics. I'm very happy with specing out a free float, but I'm just wondering if it is a common occurence for 2pc forearms to have some play or slight twisting while installed.
It makes sense since a 2pc is generally just sitting between the delta ring and the handguard cap and not bolted to the receiver in any way. If there is play, how much and does it get worse over time? Looking to gather data for any future purchases/builds. |
| Not only is some slop normal for most of the two-piece systems it's almost a guaruntee. Sometimes it will get worse with use & sometimes it's so bad to begin with it doesn't matter how much use it sees. Just depends on the individual gun to handguard combo. It's hard to say if any set up you might mix will have slop or not. |
