Yes, they are becoming very popular.  Most of the decent manufacturers are offering mid-lengths; i.e., Bravo Company, CMMG, Noveske, Sabre, and I'm sure a few others I forgot.

They are supposed to be more reliable than a CAR length 16''. Plus you get a longer site radius and you can use bayonets . I just ordered a midlength A2 from ADCO hopefully I will have it next week.

better "timed" gas system with a 16 inch bbl (ie, same distance from the gas hole to the muzzle as the 20 rifle and 14.5 carbine), longer sight radius, more real estate on the hand guards for toys, proper length for Bayo, you don't have tons of barrel sticking out front doing nothing.

I got a RRA about 2 years ago, i love it.  My 14.5 M4gery with the aimpoint is a better SHTF/ HD weapon, but my beater KISS A2 middy is the most fun to shoot. I highly recommend them.

Best of both worlds is a pinned A2 FH on a 14.7" middy.  Add an Aimpoint or Eotech and you are set.

Then you aren't looking very hard. Look and you'll find one or more pic threads in this forum alone.
