| Im building a Spikes .22lr AR to use for Rabbit and Squirrel. So if you were doing the same what would you use for an optic. I live in OK so it can have illumination |
|
I rabbit and squirrel hunt, and I hang with people who do it a whole lot more than me. Guns for this use are generally utilitarian .22LR or shorts with iron sights- or .410, or 20 gauge shotguns. Squirrels are relatively easy to get with a .22 compared to the fleet footed rabbit, where I find a shotgun to be more useful to get em while they are running. I have used a .22 to bag rabbits in the snow when you can see tracks and find them hiding among the greenbriar, but a scope....?
The thought of you trying to rabbit hunt with an optic mounted on an AR seems outright ridiculous, I'm sorry. |

Well if you are talking about in town or something .. just dont do it.. pellet gun.
If you are out at the ranch or w/e go open sights. Also in my opinion to be more human use the .223 not .22lr if you dont get a good hit on them it will not do much My opinion. I shoot alot of rabbits |
