would you want through an ALL NEW AR before trusting it as your main "go to" gun?

500 rounds of brass with 0 malfunctions and "I" am satisfied. Some say 1000.

I lean closer to the 1k count over two range sessions with zero cleaning, just oil the bolt every now and then. To me that gives a better indication of reliability. YMMV

If you're only going to do 500 rounds, make them all in a 4 hour session.  When a AR heats up previously unknonwn issues can suddenly manifest themselves.

That's kinda what I did, me and my father blasted through half a case in under 2 hours as I wanted it to get pretty damn hot(I don't typically just throw that many rounds down the range just to do it), but the Stag ran like a top.  Took a while before I could put it back in the case tho

ETA: although I didn't tell pop that was a $250+ range session, he'd still kick my ass for wasting that much dough even at 35
