What's the difference between a chrome lined and chrome moly steel barrel?
Also, what's the biggest difference between a 16" carbine, M4 and midlength? Thanks, |

I'll give you the basics.
There are currently 3 (well 4 but 3 that most people can get) gas system lengths. carbine 7", mid lenght 9" and rifle 12" Generally longer is better, but you can go too far. I dont think rifle works on a 16" barrel all that well. ( I may be wrong but I have never heard of it working) The M4 is the 14.5" or 16" barrels that are government profiles that have a notch in them for mounting a M203 grenade launcher. ( personally I dont like them as its just for looks and can't do any good unless you can actually get a grenade launcher) All non stainless steel barrels are chrome molly. chrome lining is the process of putting hard chrome finish on the inside of the barrel and the chamber. hard chrome is just that, HARD chrome. it is harder to rust and easier to clean. its best for a hard used gun. generally its not as accurate as a plain barrel but only slightly. Any other questions? P.S. you really SHOULD read the tacked threads there is alot of good info in there. |
