I was going through the closet trying to free up space for another safe, when I happened upon on old post-ban Bushmaster 20" HBAR barrel. Back in the day, I had a Wilson Combat muzzle brake permanently installed on it and had the bayonet lug removed. After the ban expired, I slapped a new barrel on my upper complete with evil bayonet lug and flash suppressor, and promptly forgot about the old barrel.

So now the question is, what should I do with the barrel? Naturally, I feel a need to put together a new upper around this barrel, but I have concerns with the barrel and the removal process of the muzzle brake. I'm wondering if the barrel will still be a 20" once the brake is removed, and if there will be any threading left to install a flash suppressor. I'll have to check with Steve at Adco about that. I guess I could have the barrel chopped down to 18" in any case.

What else should I consider?

Chop it to 18" and re-thread it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll use this barrel as an excuse to pick up a proper bench vise, armorer's wrench, and action block, so I can put together my own uppers. :)
