I am trying to finish up my 16" 7.62x39 build and the barrel is the last part I need to order.

While I would like to get a chrome lined bore, the only game in town is Double Star and they are overpriced IMHO.

I have heard good things on the E.R. Shaw barrels sold by Model 1 Sales, but the best deal due to discounts available to me is the DPMS.

While this barrel is not chrome lined, I can get it for 1/2 of what the Double Star is going to run.

This is NOT about being cheap, I do not mind paying top dollar when it is justified, but sometimes you don't get what you pay for.  An example would be if these (DPMS)  are E.R. Shaws to begin with, and I save another $50.00, that is a no brainer. $330.00 vs.$200.00 vs. $150.00

I would love to get some feedback on the quality of bores that DPMS sells.  Who's blanks do they use?  Others experiences with these tubes in any chambering, but 7.62x39 in particular.

I posted in the DPMS forum before, but no feedback.

Thanks

I’ve built 3 rifles to date with DPMS barrels. I have ZERO issues to report with them, and would not hesitate to purchase one again in the future.

The most accurate AR I ever owned was a DPMS parts kit, the barrel was non chromed but no issues at all.

The pic below is a 100m group, shot with my SAM-R clone utilizing a DPMS chrome-moly 20” HBAR barrel. The box top was from the ammo used, and gives a comparison as to the group spread.

The DPMS route is looking like it might be the way to go.
