Hi Everyone! So I've been spending endless hours trying to read up on as much as I can here. I want to use the AR as my primary weapon and haven't had an opportunity to look into it much until the election started scaring me! Basically, I'm willing to pay for something that's going to be top-of-the-line. The way I think of it, my life is worth another $500 in sticker if I'm buying the best the industry has to offer. I'd like to get something that's terrific for CQB though gives me the ability to be effective in the 100-200 yard range. Here's what I'd like to buy and I would really appreciate your feedback: Rifle: Knight's Armament SR-15 E3 IWS Optics: Aimpoint T1 of M3...which would you recommend? I'd also like long-range ability later on (possibly by adding the 3x magnifier?). Mags: PMags w/window...quantity 10. Sling: ? Tactical Harness: ? Ammo: 2000 Rounds of LC XM193 or Black Hills. Light: Surefire, but not sure what model to mount. Thanks ahead of time! |
1st off, welcomemy advice: just about most of the top tier manf/production grade ARs will work just fine...KAC is top of the line, but i would not hessitate to opt for a lower-costing SW MP (T), stag, LMT, etc i would then invest the rest of the "saved" cash into mags, ammo, and TRAINING (if this gun is a gun that you will use for your "life") aimpoints: both are top tier...the M3 would provide more optical area to see through sling: lots of choices, but i prefer either single points or 2 point slings (blue force gear, wilderness, etc) vests/harness: LOTS of choices...SOE, Eagle, etc are some of my prefered choices light: surefire scout lights are nice; pentagons are GTG also my advice overall: dont worry about the gear right now--give yourself time to try a variety (whether you buy or others), check reviews, and find what works for YOU (what works for one guy, might not work as well as for someone else) focus on training, practice, and your weapon for now |
Get some training! Best money ever spent. |
I think I'm actually going to buy the rifle, mags, and ammo first to make sure I'm on the safe side. I know it might be overkill, but something's really attracting me to the KAC E3 IWS and it might be because of the rarity. |
BTW I work with this guy and he does not look like the picture in his avatar, much less badass. Thanks for the advice though! |
