I have decided to purchase an ACOG but can't decide between the TA31RCO-M4CP and the TA31DOC. Which would you suggest? Also, how effective is the Doctor optic? Is it fairly accurate/robust? Thanks for your help. |

I have the TA31DOC on my Colt and just went through a 2-day training with it. The ACOG performed brilliantly. Anywhere past about 20 yards (even better when farther) it was incredible. I know that some find the reticle busy, but it really allows you to dial in the distance quickly if you can get used to it. I'd like to tell you about the mounted Doctor optic but mine is not working. Out of the box it seems to have a poor battery contact and the dot only comes and goes. I expect that this is an isolated experience and I can't wait to get it fixed and take it for a run. I really missed it on the close range shots (had to put tape over the ACOG - which actually worked very well). I'm slightly concerned about how high the Doc sits off the rail, but I'll probably get creative with my zero distance to avoid excessive compensation at close ranges. I'll be using the ACOG for most mid or long-range shots. I'll provide an update if I'm able to get it up and running in the near future. I hope this is helpful in the meantime. |
| I've got a TA31DOC, haven't used it at a class but I've used it a lot at the range and out on the farm as a do it all sight. The Docter is zeroed at 15 yards, and is within a few inches from the muzzle to 30 yards. Beyond that, I use the ACOG. The "chin" weld doesn't bother me, as I go from a low ready up to the Docter very quickly and naturally. To go to the ACOG from there, I lower my head a few inches and my cheek weld is perfect. |

Not really related but it might be worth checking out. Get up to 30% back on Ebay purchases through MSN Live.com search As I understand it, Microsoft wants people to search through Live.com instead of google and is promoting it by giving you money back on purchases. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=769952 |
| Look into the new TA31H. I have the 31DOC and love the reticule. Took the DOC off and sold it within a week. Have no use for the height at which you have to raise your head to get a sight picture and the cover is a horrible tactical design ( not easy to take off quickly). |
