I recently ordered a Magpul CTR for my AR15. It is supposed to be a "drop in" solution.

My question is how do you take off the old buttstock?? Do you have to take off the tube and everything else??

Pull down on the latch and hold it down, while sliding the butt stock off of the buffer tube.

Its a collapsable version. It gets stuck at the end and doesnt come out. Am I missing something here?

Don't just push on the lever like normal. Pull the entire lever assembly straight down until it stops, hold it, and pull off the stock.

Yeah. Flip it over and look at the locking latch. Now pull real damn hard with your fingertips upward and you will feel it raise up. Then while holding it up, slide the butt stock piece off, past the stop at the end of the buffer tube.

Its gonna fight you. You just have make it your bitch.

Y'know, if you just reverse the lever motion. it is not so hard to remove.

By pulling down on the long end of the lever, it pulls the index pin further than
when pushing the lever to normally adjust the stock. And it doesn't hurt your fingers.

The CTR goes on the same way, EXCEPT, you don't pull on the locking static latch on this one. There is a smaller latch just behind it. It has what looks like little plastic nubs sticking out of the sides of it. Thats the latch you pull up on. Look carefully and don't get the 2 confused.

Good point.
It would suck to see him yanking the hell out of the locking lever and thinking WTF?!?

Since no one else has said it...  You'll love the CTR.

Also, this thread is worthless w/out pics

Its a metal pin, and unless you get it on the 1st try your fingers are going to be sucking. Only negative of the CTR....

Yes, and make sure the static latch is OPEN first. If its closed, you will hate that CTR long before you ever get it unlatched....
