Going to have my barrel cut to 14.5" and perma attach one of these,

Anyone actually shot them both? I know the FSC556 reduced muzzle climb drastically and reduces some flash, but the vortex does an amazing job at reducing flash but does nothing for recoil.

what is this recoil you speak of ??

are you talking a .308?

a 5.56 has so little recoil a 5 year old can feel comfortable shooting it.

get the vortex.

I love it how people always chime in with their '5.56 has no recoil'.
No offense but I did not ask about your lack of perception regarding recoil of a firearm.
And yes, ANY 5.56 HAS recoil. Try rapidfiring a full mag in 3 seconds and see where it takes ya.

Back to my question.

What's more important to you?  Flash hiding or that muzzle climb? Only you know that one. If it's FH, get the Vortex and don't look back!

I shoot both....I am a fan of the FSC556.  I like the idea of NOT losing my sight picture under recoil.  I lose my sight picture with the Vortex.

HOLY SHIT! this guy isnt playin - rofl.
If you want magdump accuracy - FSC556 - Thats my plan once I get the coin.
Flash never bothered me - i dont shoot at night so... just my op.

Thanks all for the extra insight. Sorry to fly off the handle before but every time you ask a question some smart azz starts preaching couch commando knowledge.

I like to be able to rapidfire and stay on target and looks like I'll be getting the FSC556.

This will go on my main SHTF rifle setup for CQB/NVG use with an IR laser. I'll test out the flash with my NVG and see if it is good enough or keep looking for something else.

Others are certainly welcome to chime in - but my 2 cents are that if you NEED a flash hider, you should buy a flash hider.

The FSC556 is a compensator/muzzle brake that suppresses the flash enough to keep it out of your optics and line of sight.  That is all - if you compare it to other dedicated flash hiders, it is probably (and hopefully) the worst one out there.

I know that might sound odd - but I truly don't want anyone to buy it thinking it will make you invisible - as that is not the purpose of this device.  If you want to watch your rounds impact the target - this is what you need.  If you want to be invisible - buy a can. :)

Take it for what it's worth.

I have shot both.

The Vortex hides almost all flash.

The FSC556 does not. I does do a very good job at being a brake.
On the down side it is very loud. The side blast that it adds to help control the
muzzle is almost to the point of annoying. At least to me.

If you are going to have a scope on it and want to shoot for presion I'd go FSC556

If this is going to be a QCB standard front site/irons with maybe a Eotech,Aimpoint them go vortex.

What you want it to do dictates what you should get.

Comparing the Vortex to the FSC556 is like comparing apples to oranges. 2 completely different things.

BTW, it works great on "CQB" rifles as well. Here's one of mine on my SBR at a Pat Rogers class earlier this year.

I run the FSC and find is to be an excellent flash hider.  The noise and blast are NOTHING like some of the other comps out there.  While running it during class no one has complained yet.

Once again, thanks all for the input .

I'll be picking one up soon. It'll be going on my 14" colt ultralight 1/7 twist barrel.

I used to have the older, plain DNTC brake on one of my AR15's in the past and it was quieter than some of the other brakes/comps I've tested prior, but worked amazingly at reducing muzzleclimb. I have a video of me dumping a 30rnd mag in like 3 seconds somewhere on youtube with almost zero muzzleclimb.
