| Anyone running one of these? I'm considering it, but had to check with the hive first. |
|
I have one in each of my ARs, three rifles and one carbine. They reduce muzzle flip and felt recoil noticeably, not that .223 has much of either. They also reduce/eliminate the "sprong" noise of the cycling buffer spring. Just don't use one in conjunction with one of David Tubb's buffer springs. |
Why not? |
| I consistently experienced feed and cycling issues when using the combination out of my rifles. Several other shooters in my club also had the same experience. We never bothered isolating the exact reason for the difficulty; replacing the Tubb spring with a standard spring always fixed the issue. |
I have one on both my 14.7" pinned middy and my 20" A4 and they work great for me. I got them because I have higher power scopes on each of my ARs (3x9 on the middy and 3x12 on A4) because I've got 61 yr old eyes. As stated above, they smooth out the recoil impulse very well and its enough for me to watch the bullet strikes through the scopes at max magnification. |
OK I know lots of people that the combo works fine with but also know people have had the dreaded Enidine piston head breakage with older units... thought there might be a link. The spring is cheap...no reason not to try it with an Enidine and if it worksthen you are all good. If not you can recoup most of your cost on the EE and get a Wolf extra power spring which is a little weaker. I am of the opinion you should use the best recoil reducing buffer (Enidine, MGI , or even a 9mm if those are too expensive) and the strongest spring that will reliably cycle your rifle and lock the bolt 100% of the time with Wolf ammo. This way you have the minimum recoil and since your gas port will erode over its life and increase bolt/carrier velocity its not going to get LESS reliable and you should be good for the life of the rifle. |
I had that problem with both my S&W and LM&T using both .223 and 5.56 NATO Ammo. I contacted ITT Endine military that the Div. that Endine is at. The Engineer I talked to said they had changed the spring and if I would send my unit to them they would replace it. I sent mine in and got a new unit. so far it seems to do a great job with the 5.56 NATO Ammo. but I still have some bolt not locking back on last rounds with .223. Like someone else posted after more rounds fired it might work better with the lower power Ammo. But I do think it's a good product and will protect your optics from shock. |
| I really like the Enidine with my 10.3 & semi bcg. I've been trying to get the bolt to lock back with it in my 14.5 but it's not. I think I'm gonna have to go back to the H or H2 buffer with that particular combo but it really helps make the 10.3 a lot smoother in semi & especially with full auto use. I would recommend the Enidine to anyone willing to pay for one. |

im having problems with enidine in my bushmaster
i use it since 6 onths, always with economic russian 223... it always work good...but in last 2 weeks i have no bolt lock at last round... tomorrow i will replace it with standard buffer and try if my bolt still stay open at last round |

As i've posted a few times, I love Enidine buffers.... but not enough to justify buying one new... I picked one off of a friend for like $30... and it ran amazingly for ~8-10k... then stopped working =) They really do reduce the recoil. no doubt about that... and mix that with a good break (fsc556, JPtank, etc) and you have a .223 that hits like a .22LR... but... as i said... $90?.... nope. i'll stick with my H2... |

Quoted: there was o post about one failing, and the a few other guys posted about them breaking Ive sent emails about a fix and get the hold for 6 hours while on the phone-fuck em maybe 2k, more like 1500 or so http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e303/taylorwso/PICT2135.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e303/taylorwso/PICT2140.jpg i did just get the spikes buffer, it works just fine, no bolt bounce in a know problem upper i would reccomend that Well, it's obvious from the pictures that this is user error. You decided to use it didn't you? EDIT: Just looking at this again. Did you use this with a flat spring or anything out of the norm? |
|
i was running one in my RECCE build when this thread was originally posted but i've since switched back to a standard buffer. i decided that the extra chance of broken parts isn't worth the small benefit. who keeps a spare buffer with them at all times? if this thing should go TU it'll be at the most inconvenient time. |

EDIT: Just looking at this again. Did you use this with a flat spring or anything out of the norm? the flat spring fell out of it, it got bent up trying to take the mess of shit out of the tube, parts/oil everywhere used with a standard car buffer spring |

I was going to order one of those, but then i came to my senses and got the ST-T2 buffer from spike's tactical for alot less. The ST-T2 doesn't have extra parts to break when SHTF yet also reduces recoil and smooths out the action.
EDIT: Plus i got some anti-obama bumper stickers for free! |

My T2 reduces recoil as well as my Enidine and it does not have a piston head that can start unscrewing like my Enidine is doing. Dont know about full auto cyclic rate comaprison yet but that will get tested eventually. I'm glad to hear that from someone with experience with both. I bought the T2 because to me even if it was a little less effective, it more than made up for it with reliability and price tag. |

Doe the spikes buffer slow the ROF? Yes it is a heavier buffer. Instead of sliding weights though it has heavy tungsten powder. nope I just ran it, It will help with bolt bounce, but the ROF didn't change (or changed so little I couldn't tell it). Enidine slows it way down |

My RR uses an 11.5 or 10" barrel and has the ACE socom stock
The carbine endine unit I have holds the bolt back with no problems. It takes some wearing I guess. Just now I am to the point that bolts and barrels are showing serious wear and tear. Probably due to my adiction to mag dumps. Anyway I have considered going to the M16A1 stock and a rifle version Endine to get an ever slower ROF. Also it would help the rifle look right when it is wearing an M16A1 upper. The longer stock is alot better for using irons too, and its stock compartment. |
