So i was talking to my local gun dealer the other day....him

He told me that he had never heard of that brand (so he looked it up) and that due to the double chroming that Noveske does on their barrels he said they would be less accurate.

Is this true?? hat

They say that they are a little less accurate, but a Noveske is gonna shoot like a house on fire regardless. It's still capable of 1 MOA for sure. Match rifle barrels aren't usually chrome lined, but don't think that a chrome lined barrel is gonna shoot like crap.
I have two that shoot great.

this would come as news to FN,as thier SRP is one of the most accurate snipe rifles made ,and it has a chrome lined barrel . mine delivers 1/2 moa even with a very hot barrel .

Do houses on fire really shoot?  And if so, how well?

Generally Stainless Steel barrels are considered to be a little more accurate than chrome lined barrels but they are harder to clean and won't last quite as long.

Noveske's use of double chrome lining does not make it less accurate than other chrome lined barrels...they are actually considered to be one of the most, if not the most Accurate chrome lined AR barrel

SOunds like someone has not tried cleaning many match, lapped stainless barrels vs chrome lined barrels.  Chrome lined is much harder to get clean.  The bore is usually rougher.

And I mentioned to him that I was interested in getting a Noveske N4..

He told me that he had never heard of that brand (so he looked it up) and that due to the double chroming that Noveske does on their barrels he said they would be less accurate.

Is this true??

I know that the chrome lining makes the barrel more durable but does it also make it less accurate???

Yes an N4 will be less accurate than the stainless Noveskes.

Although generally considered less accurate, chrome can be quite accurate. This is a typical 5 shot group at about 80 yards, out of a 14.5" Bushmaster gov profile barrel - not even floated and with a 5x optic.

Unless you are shooting competition and looking for consistent sub-MOA, chrome is a good way to go.
