I just thought I'd give an aar on two ar's I got up and running today. First is an SPRish build built around a RRA 18" varmit upper with the PRI fore end. It shot pretty will with my 77grn handloads, 64 grn powerpoint handloads and really well with 75 grn Hornandy TAP. The surprise for the day was the Privi 75 grain outshooting my handloads . The TAP did about 1.5" at 200 yards, I was really pleased since this is the wilson barrell that RRA uses. The second is a 7.62x39 I built on a superior arms lower with a Model 1 kit. I wasn't expecting much. It is topped off with a Trijicon acupoint 3x9 and I'm gonna shoot a deer with it. The interesting, but not suprising, thing with it was I was sighting it in with wolf at 100 yards and it was doing like 8". I was disapointed. I switched to winchester soft points for final zero and it shrunk down to about 2" wow. I did not expect it to do that well. I've got a smith brake on it and a QD fisher 762x39 can for it lol. Anyway thought I'd pass this stuff along for anyone considering either build. |
