You'll need to have it threaded by Adco to use anything else.

If your location allows for it, get a new barrel from a good mfg. then sell the ban-compliant barrel to someone in NY or CA.

You can probably purchase a Colt M4 barrel through Gunbroker

www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=108444000

And then have a good gunsmith slap it together for you; if you live in the metro area, go to Armeria Ponce De Leon in Rio Pedras (next to the Jeep dealership in la 65 de Infanteria) and have it fitted, then have them pin weld a YHM flash hider to make it 16" compliant and you are good to go.

I would probably be quicker, cheaper and less hassle to just send it to ADCO to get it threaded.  That is what I did with my 6400c, and I have no regrets.  If you go with ADCO, you don't need to send either the whole rifle or just the barrel, you can just strip the upper and send it.  They are set up to thread the barrel without having to remove it from the upper receiver.

+1. It already has a great chrome lined barrel.

I bought two MT6400C's, while I was stationed in NY. I have changed out the faux-collapsible stocks to LMT 5 position M4 stocks. The muzzle brake really doesn't bother me, so I haven't done anything with that. And I'm not planning on doing any bayonet charges.

i won't tell you what i paid for mine a few years ago...

the barrel they use on the MT6400C is the same barrel as the 6920 only without threading... drive out the spring pins and the comp will pull off... then send the upper to ADCO and let them thread it.

I bought 2 6400cs, coverted 1 to  6921 upper SBR with folding stock, the other added a permanent SDI flash suppressor to another 6921 upper. I love the "M4 Carbine logo" without all the "restricted" language,

+1 my favorite civi Colt lowers.  I've got one marked Colt Defense, and one marked Colt MFG.  The Colt Defense marked one has been engraved with third selector markings, and is going to be my SBR clone of my service rifle from overseas.

I hate the "restricted" language on the receiver, it just detracts from the lines.  The only thing I wish they would do is to mark them 5.56 instead of .223 like the 6920.
