I am fairly new to AR shooting and well versed in 1911 shooting. The recomended life span of the 1911 recoil spring is about 1000 rounds from what I have read. Is there a guide to the recomended life span of the springs in an AR15? All and any input on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

Dude.  I've been shooting the same Series 80 Colt Govt. Model for 20 years.  230 grain lead over 4.8 grains Bullseye.  My spring is still springy as hell.  Multiple thousands of rounds.  I fired a beat-to-hell M16A1 a few years after the Vietnam Conflict.  It looked like it had been drug through the Mekong ten times.  Fired just fine.

Don't worry about springs.  Worry about something arfcom-important.  Like the "best katrina mag."

I bought a 1911 book when I was in the Military Book Club.  It looked like a good book to have as a reference for a 1911, since at the time I owned a Kimber 1911.  Anyway, the guy stated in his book that you needed to replace the magzine springs once every three months.  Unbelievable.  I think I threw that book away.  All of my AR springs seem to fine, even my old SP1.  The only springs I've replaced in my guns were the mags springs for my Beretta 92FS.  These were Aisian contract mags that i replaced the mag springs with some Wolff springs.  Also, I need to replace some of my HK USP 45 magazine springs.  Apperently some of their mag springs weren't very good during a certain production period.

Action springs are $10, just have a spare on hand with your other spare parts. I always have a spare action spring, spare extractor springs, a complete LPK and BCG handy just in case.

BS.  If you have spring fatigue at 1000 rounds you bought so cheap springs.  Maybe as a precaution in a self-defense/duty gun/competion gun you could replace the springs that early, but you don't need to.  All of the 1911 springs should go for thousands of rounds.
