I'm looking at getting a JP Rifle CTR-02 or JP 15/VTAC rifle.

I haven't found much information about them on this site.  Does anyone own one or have any experience with the company?  If so, have you been happy with the performance, value and customer service.

Thanks in advance!

JP rifles are the Ferrari of AR's.  I've never seen one that wouldn't outshoot it's owner.  IMO, The CTR-02 is an amazing rifle, but far from something you would want to drag through the woods.  It really has a different niche, very popular in competition shooting.  The JP-15 is a more down to earth version, but with the same high-end accurate barrels and worksmanship.  You quite literally haven't shot a recoiless tack driving AR until you have shot a CTR with the a properly adjusted JP gas block, low-mass carrier, low-mass buffer, and Coolly muzzle break.

Customer service from JP is also at the high end of the spectrum.  They back their product 100%, and if you have questions on various options or what might be the best set-up for your application, call them.  They will take the time to talk to you.

This is good to hear.  The JP website is very informative.  This will be my first AR.  The only other one I have shot is my cousin's Les Baer which was very nice.  I don't plan to use this for tactical purposes, more for fun and perhaps for a three gun competition if I ever decide to try it and travel to one.

I have recently started archery and decided to go with a top of the line bow and after 5 months of shooting, I am glad I did.  I really feel that I got what I paid for without spending a whole lot more.

I guess if I get a JP, I will never say, "I should have spent more to get the best".
However, I realize there are many great guns that people have just as much fun shooting and enjoy just as much without spending more.

Thanks for all the input.

I was not sure about JP rifles ,especially the CTR-02. They built me the 18 inch med-weight barrel , cooley brake, stainless low mass bolt, with adjustable gas. When the rifle was opened from the box , it was un-believable to look at for quality fit and finish. The bolt carrier slide and lock was smooth  perfect , as was every part. It will knock you off your chair seeing this rifle for the first time. Then you wonder how something that looks this good shoots ??   He has relieved the barrel of stress and flex and taken away the recoil with the brake and adj. gas system . It will fast fire 5 shots under an inch at 100 with a 4 power. Keeping in mind that a 4 power can cost you 1/4 inch in accuracy slow fire, as vs a fine reticle 9 power at 100 yds. ----makes this an engineering work of quality..  His videos on his web page are correct in every way. No BS with this product.

Well, I pulled the trigger.  I ordered the CTR-02 with 18" medium stainless steel barrel with a stainless JP heat sink, JP Tactical Compensator, Magpul PRS stock, harris bipod, JP rings and a Leupold 4.5-14x50 long range scope.  It comes standard with their low mass bolt and adjustable gas system.  I also got a GG&G Accucam for my Eotech for close range fun.

Excellent. What I did was go with an ACOG and adj. carbine stock. Magpul CTR with an H-buffer. This is 1 pound lighter than a PRS, but the stock you ordered is better for scopes, and can be used with the JP Buffer as its a rifle buffer tube. With an ACOG, full length rail and 2 small rails my rifle is about 8.5 pounds. I run the ACOG mount instead of a direct screw in to the upper, which is heavier . What you ordered is perfect and a nice set up. Watch out for social problems at the range when they see the groups. Fed. 69 gr match is the ticket.

Thanks for the advice on the ammo.  I think I will also get the CTR stock for when I use my Eotech.  The adjustable stock and Red Dot sight should let my 6 year-old daughter enjoy my new TOY as well.

It's going to be a long 6 weeks.

Its worth the wait, and they probably have a long list of builds and are a small company. I waited for mine , then they mailed it by ground delivery. haha  Another 3 days of wait. When you see the finished product you will know why it takes awhile and you will have a rifle that will keep you on target. After 5 shots it should just cut air on the target. Good luck .
