Are the Panther Arms guns (.223 cal)  able to shoot the cheaper ammo without jamming?

No, and some like the South African, Indian, and Wolf  ammo void the  warranty, read the little note in the owner's manual, The rifle is not like a ak, Things in it are too tight

I have used the Prvi Partisan 5.56 NATO (brass cased), Georgia Arm .223 "Canned Heat" (remanufatured ammo), and the Monarch .223 (brass cased) from Academy Sports in my DPMS Panther Carbine. No problems with any of those. As for the Wolf Poly or laquered ammo, I will not use it in any AR I own.

I'd rather pay more for a better AR, that will run anything, than get a cheaper AR that will either not run everything, or has will have its warrenty voided by shooting certain types of ammo.

I've seen DPMS guns with chambers so tight that the extractor rips entire case heads off when trying to extract spent BRASS cases.

My LMTs will shoot ammo I find on the ground with weather corroded and rusted cases and extract them fine.

ETA: I don't know if that will void LMT's warrenty, but I'm not worried either, since mine haven't stopped unless the mags are total shit, which will stop anything.

Thanks for the response. I suppose i was trying to go the cheaper route with the DPMS. I will most likely end up saving the extra money and get a LMT upper. Does LMT sell a gas piston Upper by chance?

I have 8 DPMS rifles. They will shoot whatever you feed them - even Wolf, South African, etc. All of mine run 100%, 100% of the time.

There is a note about using Wolf ammo with the laquered steel case. Here's the thing....the chamber heats up with rapid fire and melts the laquer on the case.....I've seen this stop Colts from running.

They are making one.....I beleive it will only come in a complete gun to start with (someone correct me if I am wrong).

Not sure where they are at in the process.  LMT says it won't be out until Nov/Dec timeframe, but there was one for sale on the EE the other day...Complete rifle that is...

There is, or at least was earlier this week, an LMT piston MRP for sale on the EE.

LMT makes a GREAT product, however I would not discount DPMS just because it is a cheaper route. DPMS makes a fine AR. I have had mine for four years and never a problem. Personally, I am picky about which ammo I run through my ARs. The Prvi Partisan and British Radway SS109 is the only foreign-made ammo I will use in them. A lot of guys will opt to run Wolf because it is cheaper. That is their choice. If that is where you stand, then you may want to get the LMT upper. I have no problem with Wolf ammo. I use it in my AKs and a couple of my FALs.

DPMS, I have one of the mini SASS rifles in 5.56 and it is great! I am at the end of 5 month wait for the 7.62 model, but you really can't go wrong with either....

My DPMS AP4's eaten over 2,000 rounds of Wolf .223 without a hiccup. I just clean it thoroughly between every range trip and it keeps on tickin.

I have a DPMS M4. It shoots Wolf just fine. I've NEVER had a problem with a DPMS part, but there are still a lot of haters here.

Three DPMS's, very happy-and for the money of others, you can get two...

my dpms fires wolf all day up to 300 rounds - then I need to spin a chamber brush with CLP - close up - and away it goes again - only modification I have is an o-ring on the extractor.  Brass goes well past without cleaning

If my life depended on it I would use wolf.  I choose to spend a little more on decent stuff.

My DPMS AP4C likes Federal American Eagle...3/4" groups at 50 yards and no issues to date.
