why get a cantilever mount versus a regular mount?   larue looks like they have a pretty good deal if you buy the aimpoint through them too.  thinking about gettin a m3.

The cantilever mount gets the sight further out and gives you more usable rail space behind the sight.

+1

It just moves the optic forward more, allowing room behind it.  If you are going to buy a LaRue mount, its a great deal to buy them together.  I wouldnt buy anything but LaRue.  There is no reason to buy something cheap and then buy the LaRue later.  Just get the right setup the first time and enjoy.

I use the LT-150 straight mount.  I fit an Aimpoint ML2, Aimpoint 3x Magnifier on Larue flip mount and a Troy BUIS all on the flat top.
