All the top links will get you started.  Depenends on what you are looking for with the rifle.  Some more insight/budget will help everyone help you better.  RRA/Stag are some good places to start.  But to better help you we need more.

If you like an A2 (I'm a fan)  RRA National Match rifle have great quality and finish.  At a very reasonable cost.

There are plenty of great manufacturers out there. We can tell you who is good and who is not so good but there are many aspects to consider, i.e. warranty, cost, etc.. In my opinion the good will be Lmt, Colt, Rock River Arms, Bushmaster .. that is not all of them but just a few.... stay away from Olympic, high standard, you get my drift... hope this helps and welcome!!!!

should i really concern myself with 2 stage trigger at this point?  Is it worth the additional cost or if I don't will i wish i had?

I have an RRA and an LMT....

If willing to spend that much money, go with LMT...

If you want to have some money left over for ammo and extras, go with the RRA.

You can always add a 2-Stage trigger in the future.

That is for you to decide...Do some research on-line.  Go to some gun shops. Handle a few, and go with what fits you best..

That is the fun part....

Well, according to your posts, this is what we know:

- You want it to look cool.
- You want to use it in your home, which automatically makes your AR a carbine that is going to require night-capable sights of some kind.
- You have a budget of $1400.

And that's it.

Based on that, I'd say get this lower shipped to a local FFL, and then get this upper with the optional Aimpoint ML3 shipped to your home. That's $1390, plus two shipping charges and an FFL fee for the lower.

You can then add drop in rails, a light, that 2 stage trigger, etc., later on.

Get a Stag Arms M4 with a flat-top upper and YHM flip-up rear sight and an Eotech 512 or Aimpoint ML2.  Then throw in a Magpul MIAD grip and a sling and you're done.

Per e-mail, he seems to want the full blown SOPMOD lower half, so given that, I recommended this:

LMT lower w/SOPMOD stock and the 2-stage trigger, as seen here.

RRA middy upper (here), and YHM rear flip sight (here):

That comes out to $1088 shipped.

Since a red dot can no longer be had given the $1400 budget, I thought this YHM rail, this Pentagon light and this VLTOR mount at $1364 shipped would make for a decent substitute.

No sling yet, though.

Thoughts?

I've seen two shops, and I wouldn't call either particularly good as far as my needs go. They may serve you just fine, though, so here they are:

American Guns & Ammo, a really small place hidden behind other shops in the plaza. They have weird hours, but seem like decent guys. I actually got a free hat from them once.

The second would be AJI, which is a more general shooting store.

I prefer AR-specific websites, so that's where I go. *shrug*

I shoot at Rio Salado on the weekends. Get there after noon on either day, and you greatly increase your chances of getting an open bench.
