I have read here that a new bolt and new upper are pretty much good to go. I have an upper and bolt that since new have less than 500 rounds down the pipe. Still realitively safe to go ahead and swap the BCG to another? I bought this LMT upper in 2004 and selected the add BCG option. However, at that time who new what manufacturer it came from. I contacted the place of sale and was told most likely an older CMT. I would just like to upgrade to a LMT or Bravo Co.

Thanks

Yes, 500 rounds is hardly any rounds at all.  The time to worry about headspace is when using barrel or bolt with thousands of rounds down the pipe.  I have swapped used parts around a lot and have yet to see a problem with headspace.  I check headspace if barrel and/or bolt has seen a lot of use.  In your case, if I were you, I would not even bother to check it even though I have the headspacing tools to do that. It does occur in the military I am sure but due to the thousands of rounds some of their weapons fire before swapping bolt and/or barrel.
