What is the differance between a flash suppressor, a muzzle brake and a compensator

Flash supressor's just there to eliminate some muzzle flash.

Compensator, such as on a M16A2, etc. is just a flash supressor with the bottom hole not there, this redirects gases upward, in an attempt to minimize muzzle climb.

Muzzle brake is a device that redirects gases in such away that "pulls" the weapon forward, in a way.....in an effort to reduce felt recoil.  It sorta "catches" those gases.
