i have been looking to buy first ar. i have shot bushmaster 16in A3, mp 15 with rails. i really liked the bushy, but have been browsing the RRA catalog. i like the mid length flattop with chrome lined barrel. im looking for a all purpose firearm. good accuracy, reliability. well be used for river bottom plinking and some closer range varminting what are pros cons of each? eventually would like to fit with arms forend, and good optic |
RRA is good stuff but but i'd go with a stag upper. Can get a carbine model 2 upper from ar15sales for 490 shipped, they alwso have good deals on middys. I would personally go with a carbine but im sure there will be quite a few middy fans that will say othwerwise to come along soon. For rail system go with KAC

If you are going to add a rail, it will be cheaper to get a carbine. Of course if you are considering an ARMS rail, you probably don't care about the cost. I personally like KAC RAS, and the Daniel Defense Omega rail. These are rails that you can pretty easily put on yourself (even a first timer), and it allows you to get accustomed to your rifle. Just my .02 |
Lol When i put my KAC rail system on i was confused all to hell, all you guys helped me out but i got it after a few trys. My answer still sticks with stag but if you dont mind spending a bit extra most would say go Lmt Or a bit more Colt. |

im thinking about the arms, cause the bush i have shot had it one. it was a very solid setup. the m&p seemed to have some minor amount of play. not as solid. also i like the idea of removing the rail sections if not being used. i have looked at the lmt mrp, i would love to be able to switch barrels and calibers with the same rifle. thanks for the replies |
Yeah I just got a KAC rail and I think it was easier to install my FF. BTW, handguard removal tools are GREAT. |
| My beer can shooting rifle is a RRA Govt model, and works very nice in that role. I have had zero problems with it, other than having to stake the gas key myself. It shoots fine never jammed etc. That was my first AR-15. Since then I have bought several LMT MRPs, and will not buy anything else now. Bushys are fine to for shooting cans etc. |
