It makes no difference whether you you have a 20" rifle upper, or a carbine upper, for the Cav Arms lower you should ONLY USE a carbine buffer and spring.

I was unsure about the stock length A1 or A2 what ever it may be. So it takes a standard carbine buffer and spring?

I'm pretty sure it takes a carbine buffer and spring. The stock is A1 length, but the tube is not full length.

+1. When I got mine, I actually posted on the CavArms forum and that is what I was told by SinistralRifleman. ONLY carbine springs and buffers.

Also, from my own experience, if you're going to run a 20" upper, get a Colt 9mm buffer or H3 buffer. They are about the same weight and reciprocal weight of a standard rifle buffer; but in a carbine buffer size. I started of with a standard buffer and the difference in recoil was noticeable. I was afraid that over time the BCG would beat the hell out of the lower (with a standard carbine buffer). JMO. Hope it helps.
