I am new to the forum but have a few questions.  After many years I am finally able to afford getting myself a new Stag Arms AR-15  mod 1.

Is there anything I need to look out for in the breaking period or suggestions on correctly breaking the weapon in ?

Things to look out for with the weapon ?

Cleaning and Maintenance ?

Ammuntion ?  (I have been looking under the ammo section)

Accessories ?

Thanks

robbster

I don't think you need any break in period. As a friend of mine who is an accomplished hipower competitor says, just go shoot it!

Shoot it, clean it, lightly oil it... repeat.

Get familiar with the basic operations of the weapon before you go crazy with accessories. There are about a million different options for the entire weapon, from detents to barrels, but all that means nothing if you don't know the weapon.

Go through the Maintenance and Cleaning forum and don't be afraid to ask questions, there is an endless amount of great knowledge here!

try a search...lots of topics on this

read the tacked threads--there are ammo reviews, how to clean, etc

i'd start off by field stripping, cleaning, then shooting a couple hundred of BRASS quality ammo through it

Accessories you need right now are some CLP, and a good cleaning kit.  You should have a bore brush, chamber brush, a good brass rod, a toothbrush, some q-tips, cleaning patches, and maybe some pipe cleaners in the cleaning kit.

Familiarize yourself with the rifle and buy accordingly.

Start shooting with some brass cased ammo, and put about 4-500 through it to break it in.  Sometimes you'll have a few problems during this period but they are usually remedied after the break in period.

Other than that, have fun and stay safe!
