For those of you who opted for an AR instead of a shotgun for home defense...do you keep it condition 1 ?

and my second question.....what is the name/who is the maker of the flash-light mount that mounts on your front sight tower and swings down and to the left of the barrel ? (i think it clamps into the empty space above the barrel on the front sight/gas block.

Thanks a bunch guys.

I am curious.  Why did you opt for an AR for home defense?  I find it much more advantageous if maneuvering in my home or in a defensive position to have a handgun.  My opinion is that a large caliber revolver is the best, though, my HD weapon is a 40 S&W Glock loaded with Black Hills hollow points.  I am concerned about the potential of rounds going through walls to injure innocents.  Also the report of an AR in a closed environment is extremely loud.

Now if I have the luxury to shoot at the zombies from 25 to 50 yards away, I will certainly pick up my AR.

I have my XD on my night stand and was going to opt for a shotgun in the closet in my bedroom but I figured I already have an AR...just buy some soft points and be done with it.

Do a search, there is a rather LOOONGGGG discussion on keeping your weapon in
condition 1 or not.

Also, there are a lot of folks that opt for AR's for home defense, a search will find
several threads on that too, but an AR is harder to take away from you, the bullets
are less likely to go through walls
... seriously, and the rifle does not extend out any
farther from you than a pistol at draw does. Plus the rounds are more effective... List
goes on and on and on.

I keep a Beretta P4 Storm pistol in .40 as the ready HD gun.
