OLYMPIC ARMS ANY GOOD????WHO has one and how do you like it? ooookkk !!! if your bashing them tell me why? looking for input not opinion. |

I have one and love it. Their lowers are all forged now. The fit and finish is just as good as anything else i've seen in their price range. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. It shoots wolf with no problems. I also have a RRA so im not on here trying to defend what I own. Many people on this form particularly dont like Olympic Arms I think due to their past rifles. I dont have any experience with their old ones but 2006 until now they are pretty much quality rifles. Everyone that i know that has one loves it. I bought one as my first rifle a while back and everyone here told me to try and sell it back and that it was junk......I just love prooving them wrong....3 or 4 days a week And I will purchase one of their barrels soon.(some of the best out there. Ultramatch, hands down) |
agree. I've handled and used (not owned for plinking and fun at the range they works very well. the point is that, for the same money you can find better products. |
Please don't link Oly with Blackthorn/Hesse/Vulcan. Whenever I've called Oly, I've gotten a human on the line, and a polite one at that. They've been around in the the business for ages and deserve some degree of respect. - BG |
| I've owned multiple Oly's - first was a ban model plinker with 16 inch barrel and A2 stock, I put about 4000 rounds of wolf through it back when ammo was $90 per thousand without a problem. Then I left AR's for a while, picked up a new OLY M4 Carbine about 18 months ago, put several hundred rounds through it before trading it to another board member for ammo, it was a good gun, at a great price. I've got an OLY 9mm now, that accepts glock mags, also a good functioning gun. I've also owned a bushmaster, only difference I noted was the chromelined barrel and rougher finish on the Bushy. I now own 1 colt, and two home builts. If you can get an oly at a good price - $200 less than Bushmaster, etc. I think it's a good buy. But you can also build your own gun for about same price, that's the route I go now. Nothing beats knowing where all the parts are sourced, how they went together, etc. |

YEA I NOTICED THAT TOO |
| I bought an SGW "Stop sign" CAR A2 back in 1991, my first AR. I was enlisted then, not much cash so the price was right at a gun show in Atlanta so it came home with me. I still have it. At one point it did develop FTE issues, replaced the bolt, all good. I still have it, now has a YHM FF on it and an Aimpoint. It still shoots well. |
Yes, it may be accurate. What's your rate of fire? The issue is from various quality control issues and manufacturing standards that have led to various problems. Costs have had to be cut someplace. The rifle you are sitting and benchresting with may do fine for your purpose, but as a fighting rifle where conditions are a bit harsher, guns are hot and being strained, and lots of rounds are going downrange are when the issues tend to show up a bit more. I used to have an OlySGW stop sign lower during the ban. It worked with the upper I had on it, however there were some various synthetic mags that would not lock into place. Tolerance issue in the mag well that others have also seen in their lowers. |
That fit n finnish speaks volumes.

I bought a PCR-5 back in '98 and it has been just great for what I do with it - take it to the range and punch paper. It is probably more accurate than I am off-hand. I did have one problem out of the box - the barrel was not placed into the upper properly: it was canted to one side so it would not zero unless the rear sight was cranked all the way to the left. This also screwed up the elevation, obviously. Once I realized what the problem was, I called and they said, "Send it back, we'll make it right." I opted not to send it back, since I was perfectly capable of fixing it myself. They said, "Well, if you can't fix it, send it back and we will." Anyway, I fixed it no problem, and its fine. I had Red at xringprecision thread the muzzle and put an A2 flash hider on it after the ban expired. Like I said, it has been fine, but the problem I had keeps me from buying another one. |

dont know much about olympic but i have taken some flack for getting a GSE. My GSE takes abuse pretty damn good and accuracy is no issue. was at the range today and a Marine was in the lane next to me getting some extra trigger time before going to Afgahnistan. He has a Bushmaster and after 10 -15 rnds his bolt broke..no shit. I shared my GSE with him and he was very impressed. My point is that all the manufacturers can make a mistake, then they correct and move on good luck |
![]() I had a completely Oly at one time. It actually was stolen from me but I really didn't mind spin30% or more in it, EPC would barely stay closed on it. You can have all of the Oly's you guys want. |
