Sorry for asking but I was wondering if you all could tell me how to remove the carry handle?  I have been looking around to no avail.  There are the 2 thumb screws that obviously have to come off.  However, inside the thumb screws there appears to be what looks like a philips head screw.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Undo the two thumbscrews.  This will loosen one side of the dovetail on the handle, then just lift the thing off.

Thanks.  Thats what I figured but I am still familiarizing myself with the rifle.  I just took the plunge this part Friday.  Stopped at a local shop to get my dad a gift card and would up leaving there with my wallet screaming at me!

Hey man, congrats on the new rifle.  Remember, it is always better to ask a stupid question then to not ask it and blow something up.  Granted, the carrying handle isn't going to hurt anyone either way, but later on when you have other more technical questions...ask before experimenting.

And no matter what you do, always remember this.  Do NOT attempt to remove the bolt for cleaning without a left handed wrench (available at home depot and lowes - just ask their tool guy to find it for you).

ENJOY!!

Could you expand on this a bit?

I'll bet Lowes doesn't carry flight line or military bearings...

i think its a joke

a left handed wrench doesn't exist... here's an example:

FNG mechanic: i am having trouble doing the brakes on this car
old mechanic: oh you need a left handed socket wrench
FNG mechanic: oh ok! thanks!
*20 minutes later when the snapon guy shows up*
FNG mechanic: i need a new left handed socket
snap on guy:
