I'm New to the forum building an ar should I use chrome lined barrel and chamber or just std.

It depends on what you are going to be doing with the rifle and your budget. Chrome is more durable and easier to clean, but you sacrifice a slight bit of accuracy.

Chrome lined will last longer and sacrifice a small amount of accuracy, but don't expect to see the end of either barrels life anytime soon unless you shoot 1000 rounds per range session.

That's EXACTLY right. Everything you want to change on your original build will be incorporated into your next build(s). Just whn you get it the way you want it, you'll want it different.
